A Riverfront Family Retreat

When this busy family approached us to bring personality and warmth to their spacious yet uninspiring home, we were excited to create a lively sanctuary just for them. Nestled along the Tennessee River, the house already boasted breathtaking views, a family-friendly layout, and a pool, but it needed a thoughtful transformation to truly reflect the family’s lifestyle and tastes.

We focused on crafting a design that seamlessly blends comfort and style, mixing soft colors, classic furnishings, and spunky patterns to unify the spaces. Every selection—from kid-friendly fabrics to cheerful prints—ensures that children running through in wet swimsuits feel just as at home as parents starting their early workdays. Drawing inspiration from the family’s love of travel, we incorporated subtle elements reminiscent of the sea and mountains, creating a layered, personal, and globally inspired aesthetic. At the heart of this getaway is a rooftop deck that takes full advantage of the sweeping downtown views. It’s not just a place to unwind with a cocktail—it’s also the ultimate stage for impromptu concerts by the musician homeowner, making every gathering a memorable experience.

The heart of the home, the kitchen, received a stunning “glow-up.” With updated lighting, countertops, and paint selections, this once-dated space is now a modern centerpiece where the family loves to gather. The living room, dining room, and bedrooms were transformed with carefully chosen furniture, decor, paint, and wallpaper, bringing cohesion and charm to every corner.

The homeowner shared: "[Miles and Kirk Design] spent hours planning our kitchen glow-up and living space transformations, and they worked serious magic. The kitchen is beautiful—modern and inviting, beyond anything I could have imagined. The finishes they selected for our living room, dining room, and bedroom brought everything together, making our house feel like a home. It’s a space we love to entertain in while still being perfect for our busy everyday lives. We couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.”

This project reflects our commitment to creating homes that are as functional as they are beautiful, tailored to the rhythms and personalities of the families who live in them.
